Reflection – A great Yoga tool for autocorrecting wrong actions.

From the scientific viewpoint, reflection means the return of sound waves or light from a surface. In general terms, reflection is understood as an image produced by a mirror when any object or facing it. In Yoga reflection means going beyond just the physical reflection in the mirror of a person. It is the most powerful technique in Yoga for developing awareness of our actions. It talks about getting into the depth of your personality without consciously analyzing or getting judgmental about it. It is through the power of the subconscious that a deeper understanding of our behavioral patterns occurs. Experience it yourself. Try this every night before sleeping. Sit with your back straight in Vajrasan, Sukhasan or on a chair. Close your eyes and reflect on your day’s occurrences sequentially without getting judgmental about it. It is a human tendency that recollects events and gets attached to emotions. Here it is necessary to keep a check on your emotions whether positive or negative. None should be entertained. Gradually with practice, you will be able to watch the day’s events objectively. This technique will act as your inner guiding light making you more aware of your actions.
